The Wolf and Raven Coin Medallion Coming Soon

This is a sketch of my soon-to-be-reality Wolf and Raven coin medallion. I've worked on the design off and off over the past year. I have long been fascinated by the relationship between wolves and ravens. There are many wolf and raven mythology stories that come to us from Nordic culture, American Indian culture, etc. My coin shows this enduring cycle of partnership between wolf and raven. A blood red crystal will be set in the center - symbolic of the blood bond like relationship between wolf and raven. Since this image is a sketch it can not show that the wolf and raven heads will be sculpted 3-D raised relief - for both a striking appearance and very tactile surface feel when handling the coin.

The coin is 1.5 inches (38mm) in diameter, the same large size as the United States Mint's historic Morgan Silver Dollar. It is first hand sculpted in wax, then taken through a multiple step mold making process, then cast in lead-free jewelry grade pewter. My coin will be ready for inclusion in my jewelry designs in about 3 weeks. I'll post new designs with the coin as the focal piece as soon as it is available.
